Why Modesty?

In Scripture, God tells us that we are to dress in a respectable manner that glorifies Him and protects our brothers in the Faith (1st Timothy 2:9). God instructs us to respect our bodies and Him by the way we dress. In dressing modestly, we are not only setting ourselves apart from the world (Romans 12:2, 1st Peter 2:9, Leviticus 20:26) but we are saving ourselves for the men He has planned for us. Modesty allows us to let our true beauty shine forth, the beauty talked about in 1st Peter 3:3-4: "Don't be concerned about the outward beauty of fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or beautiful clothes. You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God." Modesty is a heart attitude that, when fully embraced, makes us truly beautiful in God's sight. :)
