Our theme for this post was "almost winter" colors! (Rei's idea;)) We decided to pull blues, browns, and blacks from our closets and develop some new mix-n-match outfits!
In the first two outfits, Rei used a black leather jacket over a blue longsleeve shirt with a beige scarf, black boots and 'fashionably tattered' blue jeans! ;)
Blue Longsleeve Shirt: Target
Jeans: JC Penny
Jacket: Garage Sale (score!)
Scarf: Target
Black Boots: Walmart
In the 3rd photo (pictured above!), we decided to leave out the black leather jacket and simply pair the blue shirt with the beige scarf! This made it more of an 'almost winter' outfit! ;) This is a simple and inexpensive outfit that can be put together using a variety of scarf/shirt combinations! Also, you can use a thick scarf as a modest cover for thin-strapped shirts! Wear it as a draped-over shawl and enjoy! :)
In the above photo, Rei modeled a scarf/cardigan found in another fashion blog! We thought we'd give it a shot and try it out ourselves! And, thanks to Rei's sewing skills, (which I sorely lack...) I think we did a decent job. ;)
This lovely cardigan/scarf was an awesome DIY tutorial by Studs-and-Pearls! She used a regular square scarf but I had a sheer scrap laying around that just happened to be the PERFECT size! I hemmed the edges, put a small decorative seam using gold thread and cut two diagonal lines for the shoulders! Its so easy it's weird... If you're using sheer, be sure to hem the edges of the sleeves as well to keep them from fraying. With a scarf the edges will roll up by themselves~
Giving the outfit a dash of 1950's pizzazz, Rei used this leftover scrap of fabric as an old fashioned neck scarf! This look can be done using long, short, thick or thin scarves!
Adding a different jacket and scarf to the above outfit gave it a whole new twist! Longer, more 'trench-coat-looking' jackets are perfect for winter fashion!
Jacket: Francesca's
Scarf: Khol's
Going back to the black leather jacket and tying up our last combination for these outfit sets, Rei added a white, wrap-around belt and my black, high heel boots! This outfit was definitely one of my favorites! :)
Belt: Khol's
High Heel Black Boots: 5-7-9
Well, that pretty much finishes our first post and our "Almost Winter" outfits! :) We had a great time taking photos outside and then relaxing at Starbucks to blog it all. :)
All the clothes we used were found at local stores (Target, Walmart, Khols) and the majority of the combinations were old shirts, scarves and shoes mixed in a new way! Fashion can be really inexpensive if you just take a second look at your closet and pair up things you never thought to pair up before! Also, Thrift Stores and Garage Sales can be great hot spots for vintage clothes or fun accessories!
We'd love to hear back from you! :) Leave a comment and tell us what you thought of the outfits!
Have a wonderful and blessed day!
